Hi! Hope you enjoyed your Tanjung Lesung trip! When I was in 5th, I loved it. Its so quiet near the sea. Did you like the food? Well, if you like that food, you'd love the food in your 6th grade ESP :]. I just came back from there on Friday. You stay in ESP for a week. I know that sounds A LOT but its really not.

I bet you'll LOVE 6th grade. There is a small basket ball court, near your homeroom. Also a soccer field, if your into sports. The nurse is located very far away though. Try not to get sick or something because then you have to walk a lot. The pool is near the nurse's office. You have a swimming unit in which you have to complete a course and you get your own certificate of achievement.

Talking about PE, you also have to run a mile :O. You have to do it four times in your 6th grade year and once more, to get a hang of it. This is for your fitness test. For that, you have to do pacer as well. Then, from your mile and pacer, you choose the better score. You also have to do push- ups and sit- ups and sit and reach.
Seems like a lot, doesn't it? Your fitness report is judged by your level. You have three levels. Green, Blue and Black. Black being the hardest, green the easiest.

For instance, for pacer you get 45, you got black! For mile you got 10:30 mins, you get blue. So they take your pacer score because its better :D. If you get black, you get three stars, blue =two stars and green= one star. They count your pacer/ mile, sit- ups, push-ups, sit and reach and give you a grade.It sound extremely complicated but is actually not so hard.

Now I'll tell you about health. You have to do it for one semester. The units are sometimes so adult like, but you actually learn :)

Hey! You didn't ask any questions :[. There are 8 homerooms here. Which mean 8 classes! Seems a lot ,but it isn't.In 5th grade, you just sit in one classroom and learn everything (except for PE ad music and computer stuff and all). Here, you have to move classrooms for every class :O. It is a bit freaky at first because you have NO idea where your going, but it is good too because you get to meet new people in every class and get fresh air once in a while :D.

On the first day of school, the teachers don't get mad if you are late. I came almost after half of the class was done. The teacher was okay with it.

You are also going to be assigned classes. If you take music AND a language, you will be assigned only one class (unless you get health- a two quarter course)- because you get 4 classes other than math, science, English and social studies. PE, music (optional), language (optional), health or an assigned class. If you take music OR language, and no health- you get assigned 2 classes. If you take neither and no health, 3 assigned ones. Assigned classes are- art, Indo- art, movement, drama, robotics, design art and more. They are fun :]

Hello!
I'm Sumedha (Sue- May- Daa) Vashistha, your buddy. Just for your information, I'm a girl. 6th grade is real fun. You get to meet new people from PEL. One thing I can assure you is that 6th grade will go by really quick. The campus is humongous but there are people everywhere that can guide you. I can also assure you that you will get lost for sure but after sometime, the campus wouldn't look so big anymore...

Also... You can take many electives. You can choose a language from French, Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesian and Spanish. Also, you can pick band or strings. The band is very formal, like a marching band.

Food is totally amazing here. Well, its way better. You get pizzas, subs, ramen (noodle and soup) and so much more. You can get food from the cafeteria, D'toko or Booster Hut. They sell amazing mint chocolate in the Booster hut. They sell great cheese casadia and waffles in D'toko. Everything in the cafeteria is yummy! If you don't have money in MS, you will regret it. Even though the things here are so scrumptious, they are costly too. MS is kind of a rip- off. OH! they also sell purple snow in the cafeteria. Its crushed ice with syrup. It's nice.

The library is huge and it has many intresting books. If you don't like books now, you'll begin to like them in 6th grade. The librarian- Ms. Hodgson is very nice and helpful. Here, you can get upto 5 books for 2 weeks! But of you dont return them on time, you cant get another one. =(

So basically, MS is not as bad as it sounds. The work is a little more and your bag is way heavier. You can ask me any questions, no matter how weird they are. I asked my buddy weird ones.

ESSAY

Sadly... Being the younger sibling isn't always fun. Yes, it does have some advantages but mostly not. As you can tell, I would be a younger sibling. I have an elder brother and though I fell extremely fortunate to have such a helpful and fun person in my life; there ARE downsides to it as well. Everything has downsides. For example; when it is your birthday, your happy because you get presents and get 'special' treatment. However... the not- so- bright side, people put cake on your face. So as you can see... I have got perfect proof of the downsides and upsides of things.

First of all... It is not at all fair that parents consider the elder siblings ideas about certain things. They don't even take them in consideration! IF we are asking on an opinion on something, like a plan... I always give my very well- thought ideas to my family but sometimes, they are just not interested! They think that the elder ones can come up with more accurate answers as they are elder and more mature. They say that we can do my idea but end up doing my brother's mostly...

Secondly... It is certainly not fair that the cool new tech stuff goes to the older ones. =( For example; a cellphone. We get a good one when we come to age. I know that they waited for those years too but we have to see them with the tech stuff. The worst part, the elder people show it off! I have a cellphone but it's not as useful and 'good- looking' like my brother's. Also, for some reason... Our parents think that my brother is more responsible. Now, I respect that they think so because he is elder but I have my points too! For one, I think I'm usually the more responsible one because I hardly loose anything other than a few... So since they think that my brother is responsible and can handle things more carefully, he gets to take the nice stuff anywhere he wants.

Then, comes the last and probably the worst part of all. Seeing their ideas getting selected is fine, even watching them brag about the new tech- savvy things is fine. There is one that that I cannot tolerate; that is me getting bossed around by my brother. He thinks he is the boss of me. ='( If I'm just lying on my bed and wondering something, he is going to question me about what I'm doing and that I should do this. One more thing is that I sometimes have to do things for him like get his socks from the cupboard. If I don't, my parents will question why I'm not doing such a small favor for my dear brother. So, he wins once again. Mostly its bugging when he is sick. I know it is very rude to say no to a sick person in need, but its irritating when I am forced to get his U.G's.

Finally... Being the younger one isn't the best thing but as I mentioned before, there are bright sides to it. Sometimes... I wonder how it would be like without my brother but I rather not. I like my life a lot, just the way it is. Even if it means I have to get bossed around, even if my ideas get rejected and even if I am forced to see my brother rub his tech stuff in my face. In the end, it worth it!

Shiloh Writing

Sadly... Shiloh has to be given away as we are leaving. Giving up this amazing dog is one of the hardest things I have to do and so, I want him to have a lovable, comfortable and well- hospitalized home to live in. So I ask your help to get him a home like that. He is a pleasure to have and be with =)

He is undoubtedly cute... When those cute big brown eyes see you, you just want to give Shiloh a BIG hug... How can you not take him? They are so googly, big and brown... Awww... I don't want to give him away... =(
Playing with him is like being in a whole new different world... You never want to stop! He is exceedingly playful. He knows every game a dog can play, maybe even more! He is active to the nth degree... Always running around and falling. A little clumsy he might be, but he is himself; and that's why we love him!

He is very, very much* interested in guests but when strangers are at stake, he will do whatever to guard you. He is to the extreme! He loves you to the extreme and will do anything for you. He is also very independent. But that doesn't mean that he is a loner. Ad I mentioned before, he is very interactive with guests =) He can do impel of tricks, and they are all self- taught! He is very obedient and always is cheerful!

In conclusion, is it a real treat to have an amazing dog like Shiloh. I don't want to leave him but I HAVE to go... I hope you take him to your wonderful house, but don't forget to make him bed extra soft... He likes that =) After hearing ALL this, how will you not take him? And here's the best part... NO PRICE!! =P... I'm just joking, but that might give you a little more urge to get him.

MUSIC

My passion is listening to music. Not just hearing the bands and singers sing their hearts out ( though I do like that...) but identifying the different sounds of natural things. This is also music to me... Music is more than just something I listen everyday... It's to hear a voice, to recognize talent and to get the chance to appreciate one's piece of art...

Music cannot be interpreted... There is no definition of music. My band teacher, Mr. Beder says that music is sound (s) that are in a synchronized manner. But is that the only kind of music? Music is a very important part in all of our lives. If there is no music, there is no sound.

I can never imagine a life without music... Visualize it... A world with no music... no sound... Aargh! It gives me chills just thinking about it. It's like the whole world will be deafened. Music is a very important factor in our lives and we should really understand its importance. These artists, when they sing; all we do is criticize them, but have we ever gone in front of an audience and sung? Most likely... not!

You don't have to have 'talent' to be a musician. You just have to practice. Some people are 'gifted' with music talent and at first, I used to envy them. But they are missing the most important step in being successful and that is the learning stage! Honestly... Without music my life would not be the same. Most of ours wouldn't.

In conclusion, music is 'in my blood.' Music is not just something you hear, it's something you feel. And I wouldn't say that I can actually 'feel' music. Because I cannot! The ones who can feel it are truly 'gifted with a musical talent.'

My Passion

My passion is a game. Not an ordinary game, but a game in which you can always learn new things and improve. It is a game for everyone. In fact... It's not JUST a game, it's something way beyond... Once you pick up that racket, it kind of makes me want to play the it more and more. This is referred to as badminton. Easy game. Shuttle, racket, hit and bam! Simple.

Some people have a talent for this game and are brilliant at it as they pick that racket. Most learn gradually and reach to the top. I fit in the second category. Before, when I used to see the ones that have the 'talent' play; I used to think they were so lucky. Now, I feel that they are missing out on the most important stage, and that is learning and you mistakes. If you don't make them, how will you learn? This part is truly memorable when you look back at your progress...

People say badminton is one of those soft sports. As it does not involve pushing and you don't really exert yourself. Well... I'd like to watch you play this non- exertion game.... This game has given me so much, but most importantly... It has given me FUN!! We are so fortunate to be introduced to this in our lives. I LOVE BADMINTON!!!
